Join the Edinburgh Interfaith Association and the Deputy Lord Provost for a powerful keynote lecture and in-conversation event with Trishna Singh OBE—a pioneering voice in Scottish community development, gender justice, and interfaith engagement.
Born in Glasgow in the 1950s as a first-generation Scottish Bhat Sikh, Trishna left school at age 13 before going on to earn a degree from Glasgow University in 2007. Over her 30-year career in the voluntary sector, she founded Sikh Sanjog (Scotland’s only Sikh family support charity) and Punjabi Junction (Scotland’s first Sikh women’s social enterprise). In 2012, she was appointed as the first Honorary Sikh Chaplain to Edinburgh University, and in 2014, she became the first Sikh woman in Scotland to receive an OBE.
Drawing from her deep lived experience and her acclaimed memoirs, A Silent Voice Speaks, Trishna will explore the intersection of Sikh faith, racial equality, civic engagement, and human rights—with a specific focus on the unique history and needs of Bhat’ Sikh women in Scotland.
The Key Note Lecture will directly follow the Annual General Meeting of the Edinburgh Interfaith Association.
