Key Note Speaker: Adrian Cristea

Adrian Cristea has a background in sociology and social work. He holds a Master’s Degree in Peace Studies from TrinityCollege Dublin. Adrian played a key role in establishing the first official Interfaith Forum in Ireland launched in January 2012and led the process for developing the ‘Dublin City InterfaithCharter’. He is the founder of 'Safe Haven', the hate motivated incident response program of Dublin City Interfaith Forum, which delivers training enabling advocates to recognise, report and support victims of hate motivated incidents. As an interfaith practitioner and scholar, Adrian combines practical interfaith experience with academic knowledge about interfaith learning with practical initiatives to build bridges across religious or cultural differences. He is currently working on obtaining hisPhD at DCU, Dublin, in which he asks the question of how we can better understand the impact of interfaith engagement in European cities. As a part of his PhD-position, Adrian Cristea also assists with teaching dialogical skills, case study analysis and inter religious studies at theCentre for Religion, Human Values and International Relations, DCU, Dublin. Besides these academic activities, Adrian has been active as a bridge-builder in the Irish context in his current role of Executive Officer with the Dublin City Interfaith Forum coordinating interfaith projects, organising and facilitating sessions about social cohesion and dialogue in Irish secondary and vocational education. He is the co-founder of Cities Faith & Community Forum, a EuropeanInterfaith Network. With his work as an interfaith practitioner and scholar, Adrian hopes to contribute to professionalising the field of interfaith learning and engagement, which, in the end, will contribute to more peaceful and cohesive societies.
